Grapes
Three grape varieties are used in Champagne today : the Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and Pinot Noir.
- Chardonnay white grape variety occupied 26 % of the total vineyard area dominates on the Côte des Blancs
- Pinot Meunier black grape variety occupied 38 % of the total vineyard areadominates in the Vallée de la Marne
- Pinot Noir black grape variety occupied 36 % of the total vineyard area dominates on the Montagne de Reims and in the Aube
